This AI Phone Receptionist n8n Workflow (CallNode + OpenAI Replies) listens to live call transcripts coming from your CallNode phone number, sends each caller message to an OpenAI-powered agent, and returns short spoken replies back to the call in real time. It also supports optional transfer and automatic hangup handling.

What this workflow does

• Receives live call events from CallNode using an authenticated conversational webhook (speech transcripts or keypad/DTMF input).
• Builds the caller message from the transcript/DTMF and passes it to an OpenAI Chat agent with your provided business and time context.
• Maintains per-call conversation memory keyed by the CallNode callId, so the assistant stays coherent across multiple turns.
• Generates CallNode reply fields from the agent output—removing control tags and setting flags for:
  • [hangup] → ends the call
  • [transfer] → transfers to a configured destination number
• Responds to CallNode via the workflow’s production webhook response so the caller hears the AI reply, and the call behaves according to the AI’s instructions.
