Turn Google Maps leads into a deduplicated Google Sheets prospect list (Apify + n8n)
This n8n workflow uses Apify’s Google Places crawler to find local business email leads from Google Maps for a chosen niche and location, then filters out duplicates and appends only new prospects to your Google Sheets prospects tab.
What this workflow does
- Manual trigger: Start the workflow whenever you want to run a new lead search.
- Set search parameters: Define the target business type (niche), location, and a requested maximum number of results. The workflow also clamps the result count to a safe capped limit.
- Search Google Maps via Apify: Calls the Apify Google Places crawler to return businesses with contact details.
- Read existing leads from Google Sheets: Fetches existing rows from the prospects sheet to build a list of already-saved emails.
-
Normalize, filter, and deduplicate: Converts Apify output into a prospect schema, removes entries without a usable contact email, and deduplicates against both:
- emails already present in the sheet
- emails found within the same batch
- Append new prospects: Writes the remaining new prospects to your Google Sheets prospects tab.
Use cases
- Cold email sourcing for local services: Quickly generate outreach lists for a specific industry in a city/region.
- Lead enrichment pipelines: Keep your Google Sheets CRM-like table updated without re-adding old contacts.
- Sales ops testing: Run repeatable Google Maps lead pulls for different niches and compare growth over time.
Technical details
- n8n nodes used: set, code, sticky note, HTTP Request, Google Sheets, manual trigger
- Apify integration: Uses an HTTP Request with Authorization: Bearer <token> to call the Apify Google Places crawler
- Google Sheets integration: OAuth2-authenticated steps reading and appending to the prospects tab
- Setup required: Create/copy a sheet with a prospects tab and matching columns (e.g., company, email, industry, linkedin_url, notes), and replace YOUR_SPREADSHEET_ID in both Google Sheets steps
