Automatically audit security-questionnaire answers in Google Sheets—then notify your team in Slack

This n8n workflow checks how “fresh” your security-questionnaire answers are by reviewing linked Google Drive evidence metadata, updating statuses in your Google Sheets, maintaining a review queue, and (optionally) sending a Slack digest of new or changed items.

What this workflow does

Designed for hands-off, repeatable compliance hygiene, the workflow can run manually or on a daily schedule:

• Loads and validates configuration before processing.
• Reads required tabs from your Google Sheets workbook: Answers, Evidence, Dependencies, and Review Queue.
• Validates required columns and allowed status values for consistent processing.
• Deduplicates active, referenced evidence and fetches Google Drive file metadata in batches via the Google Drive API.
• Detects missing, expired, or uncertain evidence and assigns deterministic state + reason codes for each active answer based on review intervals, ownership/review flags, and evidence change policies.
• Writes updates back to Google Sheets, including evidence snapshots, review-queue refreshes/resolutions, new review items, and answer control fields.
• Sends a Slack summary digest when enabled and when new/changed items (or configured recoveries) require attention.
