Automate Supplier SLA Breach Detection, Recommendations & Email Alerts with Google Sheets, Gemini & Gmail

This n8n workflow monitors supplier SLA performance on an hourly basis by comparing targets from Google Sheets against actuals, logs any SLA breaches for audit tracking, and uses Google Gemini to generate corrective action recommendations—then sends a single consolidated HTML email alert via Gmail.

What this workflow does

  • Runs on an hourly schedule to keep SLA monitoring current without manual checks.
  • Reads SLA rules and supplier performance from Google Sheets, then merges the data by supplier_id and metric_type.
  • Compares each metric’s SLA target vs. actual value, calculates deviation, and classifies breach severity.
  • Routes compliant records to a no-op path, while non-compliant records are enriched with summaries, urgency flags, and contract-end timing.
  • Appends detected breaches to an SLA breach log in Google Sheets for audit visibility.
  • Aggregates all breaches into one report and sends the report to Google Gemini for recommended actions and escalation guidance.
  • Formats a styled HTML email and sends it via Gmail to the configured supplier manager.

Use cases

  • Detect SLA risks for multiple suppliers and metrics without spreadsheets-only workflows.
  • Centralize breach history in a dedicated Google Sheets log for compliance and reporting.
  • Get AI-assisted escalation guidance from Google Gemini to standardize corrective action responses.
  • Reduce alert fatigue by consolidating all breaches into a single HTML email per run.

Technical details

  • Google Sheets: SLA rules tab, supplier performance tab, and an SLA breach log (merged by supplier_id + metric_type).
  • Google Gemini (PaLM): configured via an API credential and a selected Gemini model in the Google Gemini chat model step.
  • Gmail: OAuth2 authentication to send the consolidated HTML email alert.
  • n8n nodes include: if, set, code, no op, merge, and gmail.
