Manage your Google Calendar through chat—powered by Gemini, and smarter color-coding with n8n Data Tables
This n8n workflow lets you control Google Calendar using natural-language requests in an n8n chat. It uses Google Gemini to interpret what you want, manages reusable event color categories via an n8n “Categories” data table, and can create, update/move, delete, list, and recolor events based on your instructions.
What this workflow does
- Receives your message via an n8n chat trigger.
- Creates (or attempts to create) an n8n Data Table called “Categories” to store category names and corresponding Google Calendar color IDs.
- Fetches details for your primary Google Calendar using the Google Calendar API.
- Uses a Google Gemini (PaLM) chat model with conversation memory to determine which actions are required.
- Reads, adds, or deletes category records in the “Categories” data table so category-to-color mapping stays consistent.
- Lists Google Calendar events to find the correct event ID, then performs the requested action: create, update/move, delete, and/or recolor.
- Returns the assistant’s reply, or prompts for clarification if no response is produced.
Use cases
- “Schedule a team standup tomorrow at 10am and color it ‘Work’.”
- “Move my dentist appointment to next Friday and recolor it ‘Personal’.”
- “Delete the event titled ‘Project kickoff’.”
- “List all events for next week and categorize them by your stored color rules.”

- Integrations: Google Calendar (OAuth2 + Calendar API) and Google Gemini chat (PaLM) with conversation memory
- Requirements: Data Tables enabled in n8n so the workflow can create and use the “Categories” table
