This n8n workflow connects Clio, DocuSign, Google Sheets, and email to streamline engagement letter handling—creating/reusing a Clio contact, generating a DocuSign draft for attorney approval, tracking status in a spreadsheet, and opening a Clio matter once signatures are complete.

What this workflow does

• Receives a qualified lead webhook and normalizes lead details (name, email, phone, practice area, case details, and assigned attorney).
• Upserts a Clio contact: searches Clio by email, and creates a new contact if no exact match is found.
• Creates a DocuSign draft envelope from your engagement letter template, pre-filling fields for that client, then logs the engagement in Google Sheets.
• Sends an approval email to the assigned attorney with an approval link.
• Processes attorney approval via an approval webhook: validates the request, finds the matching review ID in Google Sheets, and transitions the DocuSign envelope status to “sent”.
• Handles DocuSign Connect completion: ignores non-completion events, and when an envelope is completed, matches the DocuSign envelope ID back to the Google Sheets log.
• Creates a new Clio matter for the signed client, updates the sheet with the signed matter ID, and notifies staff via email.
