Get new U.S. building permit leads into Google Sheets and a Gmail digest—automatically, every morning
This n8n workflow pulls recent building permit leads from Apify (US Building Permits Actor), deduplicates them across runs, appends only new records to Google Sheets, and emails you an HTML digest of the newest permits via Gmail.
What this workflow does
- Runs daily at 7:00 using an n8n schedule trigger.
- Fetches recent leads from Apify by calling the Apify US Building Permits Actor over HTTP, pulling permits from city open-data sources based on your configured cities, keywords, and lookback window.
- Deduplicates results across executions using a city + permit-number key, so previously seen permits aren’t re-added.
- Appends new permits to Google Sheets by writing new permit records into a “Permits” tab with matching column headers.
- Sends an HTML digest via Gmail with up to 100 newly discovered permits, sorted by valuation, to your configured recipient email.
Use cases
- Lead tracking for real estate and construction pros who want a daily stream of building permit opportunities.
- SaaS operators and automation engineers building a reliable pipeline from Apify data into Google Sheets and email reporting.
- Ops teams monitoring local development activity using valuation thresholds (min valuation) and targeted keywords.
Technical details
- n8n nodes / integrations: HTTP Request, Code/Set, Google Sheets, Gmail, Schedule, Sticky Note.
- Apify authentication: add an n8n HTTP Header Auth credential using Authorization: Bearer <token>.
- Google Sheets requirements: create a spreadsheet with a “Permits” sheet and matching column headers; replace PASTE_YOUR_SHEET_ID.
Setup & customization
Configure cities, keywords, daysBack, minValuation, and maxResultsPerCity in the CONFIG node, then test and activate. You can customize which markets you track by updating the city and keyword settings.
Requirements: an Apify account (US Building Permits Actor), Google Sheets, and Gmail.
