Daily Core Web Vitals Email Report — powered by PageSpeed Insights + Gmail
This n8n workflow checks your site’s Core Web Vitals every morning, evaluates mobile and desktop performance in Google PageSpeed Insights, and emails a color-coded HTML report to you via Gmail.
What this workflow does
- Runs daily at 7:00 AM on a schedule.
- Loads the target website URL and a recipient email address from a configuration step.
- Calls the Google PageSpeed Insights API twice to fetch results for mobile and desktop.
- Extracts key metrics from the PageSpeed responses, including LCP, INP, CLS, and the performance score.
- Uses CrUX field data when available and falls back to Lighthouse lab data to populate metrics.
- Generates a color-coded HTML email that grades each metric against Google thresholds and includes a link to the full PageSpeed report.
- Sends the report via Gmail to the configured recipient.
Use cases
- Keep SaaS websites on track by monitoring Core Web Vitals changes after releases.
- For performance engineers: get daily visibility into LCP / INP / CLS without manually running PageSpeed Insights.
- For operations teams: centralize weekly or daily performance reporting in an automated email digest.
- Compare mobile vs. desktop performance trends using the same standardized PageSpeed Insights workflow.
Technical details
- Nodes/tech used: set, code, http request, merge, gmail, and sticky note.
- Google PageSpeed Insights API: enabled in Google Cloud and accessed with an API key (sent as the key query parameter via HTTP Query Auth credential).
- Gmail integration: uses Gmail OAuth2 credential to send the HTML report.
Setup in minutes
Enable the PageSpeed Insights API, create your API key, configure your HTTP Query Auth credential, connect Gmail OAuth2, then update the audit URL and recipient email. Adjust the schedule time if needed.
