Daily WordPress Plugin Stats Updates to Slack, Telegram & Email (n8n)
Keep tabs on your WordPress.org plugin performance automatically: this n8n workflow checks daily for plugin stats changes and sends a concise digest to Slack, Telegram, or email—so you never miss important movement in installs, downloads, ratings, or support activity.
What this workflow does
- Runs daily on a schedule (or manually for testing).
- Fetches public plugin details from the WordPress.org Plugins API using the plugin slug, including figures such as installs, downloads, ratings, and support thread counts.
- Creates a baseline on the first run, then stores the previously seen values.
- Compares each new run against the stored prior results to detect what changed.
- Generates a plain-text digest showing what changed and the current values.
- Sends the digest only when changes are detected to your chosen destination (Telegram, Slack, or email).
Use cases
- Plugin maintainers want daily visibility into real-world WordPress.org performance without manual checks.
- SaaS operators tracking partner or product-related WordPress plugins can monitor support thread activity and rating shifts.
- Automation engineers need a practical example of scheduled API polling with change detection and notifications in n8n.
Setup
- In the Configure workflow step, set the plugin slug and optionally a User-Agent contact value.
- Enable one notification option: Telegram, Slack, or email, and add the required credentials.
- Provide destination details (Telegram chat ID, Slack channel ID, or from/to email addresses) and adjust the daily schedule time if needed.
Technical details
- Implemented with n8n nodes including if, set, code, no op, Slack, and Telegram.
- Uses the WordPress.org Plugins API as the data source and performs previous-run vs current-run comparison to determine whether to notify.
