This n8n workflow automatically scans your entire n8n instance every Monday, detects which external processors your workflows send data to, flags anything that isn’t covered by your DPA rules, and (optionally) deactivates non-compliant workflows. It then posts a consolidated compliance status update to Slack when attention is needed.

What this workflow does

• Runs weekly: scheduled for every Monday morning.
• Loads your compliance rules: reads processor allow/block settings, optional DPA end dates, exempt tags, and whether to auto-deactivate “switch off” workflows.
• Fetches workflows via the n8n API: retrieves all workflows from your instance.
• Analyzes data destinations: inspects each workflow’s published version (or saved version if unpublished) to detect where data is sent, including:
  • service nodes
  • destination URLs in HTTP Request nodes
  • URLs embedded in Code nodes
  • called sub-workflows and error workflows
• Classifies compliance status: marks each workflow as clean, exempt, needs review, or switch off based on your processor lists, unresolved destinations, and DPA end dates.
• Optionally deactivates non-compliant workflows using the n8n API, recording whether deactivation succeeded.
• Posts a consolidated Slack report summarizing actions taken, items needing human review, upcoming DPA expirations, and configuration issues—posted only when attention is required (or when forced).
