This n8n automation enables end-users to submit shopping requests and receive alerts by combining Baserow with webhook and email sending. Designed for practical “user empowerment” patterns, it turns Baserow tables into the backbone of an easy-to-configure workflow.

What this workflow does

Based on the workflow originally presented at the February 2022 n8n Meetup, the automation works around a Baserow-backed “Office Shopping List”:

• Uses Baserow data in your “User Empowerment Demo” group to manage shopping list items and shopper records.
• Receives shopper submissions via the workflow’s webhook endpoint (configured through the “Create Shopper Form” set node).
• Sends alerts through an Email Send step when a shopping list request is created/updated.
• Runs on schedule with a cron trigger to keep the process reliable and consistent.

Use cases

• SaaS and internal tools: Allow employees to submit requests without needing to edit n8n workflows.
• Office operations: Collect “Office Shopping List” items and notify the right people by email.
• Automation engineers: Demonstrate a real pattern for enabling end-users to configure workflow inputs using Baserow.

Technical details

• n8n nodes / integrations: set, cron, Baserow, webhook, Email Send, and item lists.
• Baserow requirements: a group named User Empowerment Demo, a database named Office Shopping List, and two tables:
  • Shopping List: column Item (single line text)
  • Shopper: columns Name (single line text) and Email (email)
• Customization needed: update all Baserow nodes with your own credentials, database/table/field names; configure the Send Shopping List node with your email credentials and recipients; update the HTML value in Create Shopper Form to match your production webhook URL from the Submit Shopper node.
