Find credible eyewitness YouTube clips faster—automatically filter and notify your team
Find Eyewitness YouTube Clips: n8n + Google Sheets + Telegram watches YouTube for breaking events and delivers only the most promising eyewitness candidates to your editors—earliest upload first. No more manually trawling: the workflow monitors, logs, scores, and sends Telegram digests so you can verify faster.
What this workflow does
- Opens an event window from an editor form: an editor submits queries (one or more YouTube search terms) and a monitoring duration.
- Registers the event in Google Sheets: the workflow appends the event to the “Events” tab and posts an “event opened” message to Telegram.
- Runs every 15 minutes: it reads “Events” and “Footage Log”, plans YouTube searches for active events, and respects credit/paging limits.
- Searches recent YouTube results: it queries YouTube via the RecentReborn search API (optionally paging), stops early when daily quota is low, and only collects videos not already logged.
- Scores and categorizes videos: using keyword rules and optionally an OpenAI chat model, it labels results as eyewitness, news reupload, commentary, or unrelated, and flags likely copies.
- Logs and closes events: new clips go to “Footage Log”; counters update, and expired/deactivated events are closed.
- Sends Telegram updates: you receive a digest with new eyewitness candidates and any run problems, plus a wrap-up summary when an event window ends.
Use cases
- Newsrooms monitoring fast-moving incidents and needing verified first-hand footage.
- Automation engineers building an n8n workflow marketplace-grade monitoring pipeline with Google Sheets and Telegram notifications.
- SaaS operators managing multi-event monitoring with clear logging, deduplication, and quota-aware YouTube querying.
Technical details
- Integrations: Google Sheets (tabs: Events, Footage Log) and Telegram.
