Get a daily Florida insurance & legal news digest—automatically emailed to you
The Florida Insurance & Legal News Digest (n8n + GPT-4o + Outlook) workflow runs every day at 4am to pull new Florida-relevant insurance and legal updates from RSS feeds and CourtListener, summarize them with OpenAI, and email a polished HTML newsletter to your subscribers via Microsoft Outlook.
What this workflow does
- Schedules and deduplicates: Executes daily at 4am, loads previously seen article URL hashes from a Microsoft Excel workbook stored on SharePoint, then removes anything already processed (and duplicates found in the current run).
- Collects Florida-focused sources: Fetches recent items from Insurance Journal, Claims Journal, a Google News RSS search, Property Insurance Coverage Law Blog, and CourtListener. Each item is normalized into a consistent article format with a computed URL hash.
- Summarizes with OpenAI: Splits the remaining articles into batches of 30 and uses OpenAI (GPT-4o-mini) to generate a JSON list of newsletter-ready summaries.
- Builds and sends an HTML newsletter: Groups summaries by stream and renders a styled HTML digest, then sends it to recipients from a subscriber list in Microsoft Excel.
- Prevents resends: Appends the URL hashes of successfully sent articles back into the SharePoint-hosted “seen” table.
Use cases
- Compliance and legal teams tracking Florida insurance developments without manual searching.
- SaaS operators and automation engineers who want an n8n news summarization workflow with deduplication and scheduled delivery.
- Practitioners who monitor case updates from CourtListener and relevant industry sources.
Technical details
- n8n nodes: if, code, merge, filter, sticky note, http request.
- Integrations: RSS sources (Insurance Journal, Claims Journal, Google News RSS search, Property Insurance Coverage Law Blog) + CourtListener, OpenAI (GPT-4o-mini), Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Excel on SharePoint.
- Workflow behavior: daily 4am run, batch summarization (30 items), HTML rendering, Outlook email dispatch, and SharePoint hash tracking.
Setup note: Add Microsoft Excel/SharePoint credentials and update the workbook item ID, worksheet, and table reference used for the subscriber list and “seen” hashes.
