Gemini + RSS Research Brief: instantly turn TechCrunch and The Verge feeds into a cited research bundle (n8n workflow)
This n8n workflow manually collects recent RSS/Atom stories from TechCrunch and The Verge, ranks them by keyword relevance, and (optionally) uses Google Gemini to generate a research briefing plus LinkedIn and newsletter drafts—complete with source-ID citations you can export as JSON/Markdown/CSV.
What this workflow does
- Run manually and load your settings: topic, audience, RSS/Atom feeds, keyword list, and lookback limits.
- Fetch & parse feeds over HTTPS (or use built-in demo XML), validate XML, and extract article titles, excerpts, dates, and canonical URLs.
- Deduplicate, filter, and rank stories by recency and keyword matches, then select the top sources and build a source register.
- Optional AI briefing (Google Gemini): send selected source excerpts to Gemini to produce a JSON research briefing that cites only the provided source IDs.
- Draft content (Gemini): validate the briefing structure, then ask Gemini to write LinkedIn and newsletter copy with citations that reference valid source IDs and contain no URLs.
- Export a review bundle as a downloadable JSON file including status, review issues, briefing, drafts, source list, and feed failures—plus Markdown and a sources CSV.
Use cases
- Build a weekly product update briefing for a SaaS team using TechCrunch/The Verge coverage filtered to your keywords.
- Generate draft social and newsletter posts with strict source-ID citation rules for faster, defensible reporting.
- Automation engineers and n8n users who want a reliable “research → draft → export” pipeline with validation checkpoints.
