Turn “no response yet” emails into ready-to-send follow-ups—automatically
This n8n workflow scans your Gmail threads daily, detects which labeled conversations haven’t received replies after a configurable delay, creates Gmail follow-up drafts (no emails are sent automatically), and then posts a single morning digest to Slack, Discord, or Chatwork so you can review everything in one place.
What this workflow does
- Runs daily at 09:00 based on your configured schedule.
- Fetches all Gmail labels and searches for threads that match your configured follow-up label and are older than a set number of days.
- Loads messages from each matching Gmail thread and checks whether anyone replied by comparing senders against your configured
my_email. - For threads with no reply after the waiting period, builds a follow-up subject and body and creates a Gmail draft in the original thread.
- Removes the follow-up label from each processed thread to avoid chasing the same thread twice.
- Compiles one digest of drafted follow-ups and sends it to your chosen notification channel: Slack, Discord, or Chatwork.
Use cases
- SaaS operators following up on demo requests or partnership emails without missing the right timing.
- Automation engineers managing outbound outreach where you only want drafts created after a delay—keeping control of what gets sent.
- Teams that prefer a single daily status update instead of noisy per-email notifications.
- Backlog cleanup for older outreach: label once, let the workflow do the rest.
Technical details
-
Gmail integration with OAuth2 (configure
my_email, follow-up label name, and delay in days). - Notification via Slack OAuth2, Discord webhook URL, or Chatwork API token using HTTP header auth.
- Workflow logic uses nodes/tools such as: set, code, gmail, slack, filter, and switch.
Setup tip: Create the Gmail label (default FollowUp) and apply it to the threads you want tracked.
