Turn unread Gmail into calendar events and Notion tasks—automatically.
This Gmail Triage to Google Calendar & Notion (OpenRouter LLM) n8n workflow scans your Gmail inbox for unread messages, uses an OpenRouter-hosted LLM to classify and summarize each email, extracts an actionable task + due date, then creates a Google Calendar event and a Notion to-do item. Emails identified as spam are deleted to keep your inbox clean.
What this workflow does
- Checks every minute for newly arrived unread emails using an n8n Gmail trigger.
- Sends the sender, subject, and snippet to an OpenRouter LLM to classify the email into a single category.
- Deletes the email from Gmail if it’s classified as spam; otherwise it continues processing.
- Uses an OpenRouter LLM to generate a 2–3 sentence summary for a digest-style view.
- Uses another OpenRouter LLM step to extract an actionable task and an optional due date from the email content.
- Creates a Google Calendar event with the extracted action as the title and the summary as the description.
- Appends a Notion to-do block with the extracted action to your specified Notion page.
Use cases
- For SaaS operators: convert support, partnership, or sales emails into calendar reminders and Notion tasks.
- For automation engineers: a practical n8n template combining Gmail, LLM classification, and productivity tools.
- For busy teams: automatically summarize emails and ensure actionable items don’t get lost.
Technical details
- n8n trigger/node flow: gmail trigger → filter/switch logic → OpenRouter LLM steps → sticky note (digest formatting) → calendar + Notion updates.
- Integrations: Gmail, OpenRouter LLM (classification, summarization, task extraction), Google Calendar, Notion.
- Setup: connect Gmail OAuth, configure unread monitoring; add OpenRouter API credentials and confirm model availability; connect Google Calendar OAuth; provide the target calendar and Notion page/block URL for to-do appends.
