Know where your hotel stands on Google Hotels—every week
This n8n workflow automatically tracks your hotel’s rate position on Google Hotels by scraping Bright Data, comparing you to a star-banded comp set, logging results in Google Sheets, and sending a concise GPT-5.6 digest to Slack—all on a weekly schedule.
What this workflow does
Designed to run every Monday morning, it:
- Builds a four-date Google Hotels search grid from your settings (market term, stay length, guests, country/currency, and date horizons).
- Triggers a single Bright Data dataset job using the grid inputs.
- Polls until the Bright Data snapshot is ready (or until a maximum poll limit is reached), then downloads the full rate snapshot.
- Cleans and filters the results by removing sponsored booking options and excluding out-of-band properties by star rating.
- Calculates per-date performance: comp-set quartiles, your cheapest rate, your rank, and your channel spread.
- Uses GPT-5.6 to produce a short narrative note based on the computed stats (without inventing new numbers or recommending a new rate).
- Appends one row per date to the Google Sheets “Rates” tab and posts a single combined digest message to the configured Slack channel.
Use cases
- Weekly competitive rate monitoring for SaaS operators managing multiple hotel properties.
- Revenue managers validating how their rate position shifts across specific future check-in dates.
- Automation engineers needing a repeatable Bright Data + Sheets + Slack reporting workflow in n8n.
Technical details
- Bright Data: Web Scraper API credential (header-auth) for the Google Hotels dataset; snapshot polling and download.
- OpenAI (Chat): GPT-5.6 to generate a brief summary from the computed metrics.
- Google Sheets: OAuth to append per-date rows to the “Rates” tab.
- Slack: OAuth to post the weekly combined digest.
- n8n nodes/logic referenced in the workflow: if, set, code, wait, slack, split out.
