Turn your n8n AI agent into a LinkedIn poster & engager—via MCP tools

This LinkedIn MCP Server for n8n exposes LinkedIn posting and engagement capabilities as MCP-compatible tools. With a bearer-authenticated MCP Server Trigger, your AI agent can create text, image, or link/URL-preview posts—and manage and interact with existing LinkedIn content using the LinkedIn REST API.

What this workflow does

  • Receives MCP tool calls through the MCP Server Trigger webhook, secured with bearer token authentication.
  • Creates LinkedIn posts as:
    • Text updates
    • Image posts using incoming binary data
    • Article/link share with URL preview
  • Retrieves LinkedIn data by:
    • Fetching the connected profile
    • Listing the 10 most recent posts by the configured author
    • Fetching a specific post by URN
  • Manages published content:
    • Edit a post’s commentary text
    • Delete a post by URN
  • Engages with existing posts:
    • Add comments, list comments
    • Add reactions, list reactions, remove your connected account’s reaction
    • Delete a specific comment by ID

Use cases

  • An automation engineer building an AI agent that posts updates and follows up with comments on your behalf.
  • A SaaS operator running scheduled thought-leadership workflows that create and revise LinkedIn posts using MCP tool calls.
  • A content team retrieving the latest posts and generating engagement actions (comments/reactions) programmatically.

Technical details

  • OAuth2 LinkedIn credential for LinkedIn REST APIs (posting + reading profile/user info).
  • Bearer Auth credential for the MCP Server Trigger webhook and matching MCP client token.
  • n8n settings: add linkedin_person_urn as your LinkedIn person ID (retrievable via the “Get my LinkedIn profile” tool).
  • Uses nodes/tools including LinkedIn tool, HTTP Request tool, and n8n-nodes-langchainmcp MCP Trigger (with a sticky note for workflow clarity).
