n8n Daily Slack Digest: turns your Gmail triage logs in Google Sheets into daily Slack alerts
This n8n workflow runs once per day to summarize AI-triaged Gmail enquiry logs stored in Google Sheets, compares yesterday against the previous day, flags warning conditions, saves the results to a “Summary History” sheet, and posts a formatted digest to a Slack channel.
What this workflow does
- Scheduled daily run: Uses an n8n schedule trigger to execute automatically once per day.
- Reads triage metrics from Google Sheets: Loads configurable warning thresholds, then reads all rows from the Triage Log worksheet.
- Filters to “yesterday” in your workflow timezone: Keeps only rows where Received At falls within yesterday’s calendar day.
- Computes key counts and rates: Totals enquiries, breaks out priority counts (high, medium, low), and counts manual_review categories along with its rate.
- Adds day-over-day context: Fetches the latest prior entry from the Summary History worksheet (excluding the current date) and compares totals.
- Flags warnings based on thresholds: Detects issues such as zero enquiries, a high manual-review rate, or a high-priority spike, according to your configured limits.
- Upserts summary + posts to Slack: Writes/updates yesterday’s results in Summary History by date and posts the digest (including warnings) to Slack.
Use cases
- Support and ops teams monitoring AI triage performance and escalation needs.
- SaaS operators tracking priority spikes and manual-review volume trends.
- Automation engineers validating workflow health with consistent daily metrics.
Technical details
- Integrations/nodes: schedule trigger, Google Sheets, Code, Set, Slack, and Sticky Note.
- Expected sheet structure: Triage Log must include case-sensitive headers: Received At, Priority (high/medium/low), and Category (including manual_review).
- Summary output: Summary History is created with headers appropriate for upserting results by date, then used for comparisons.
