n8n Discourse Jobs Board Tracker: HTTP + Data Table

Get notified only when a Discourse jobs post is truly new

This n8n workflow polls a Discourse jobs board on a schedule, filters out topics you’ve already seen, and sends your notification nodes only genuinely new job posts—so you can be first to reply on niche community boards.

What this workflow does

• Scheduled polling: A Schedule Trigger runs every 30 minutes (fully configurable).
• Fetch category feed via HTTP: An HTTP Request node retrieves the target Discourse category JSON feed (for example, a jobs board category like jobs/13).
• Freshness filtering: A Code node expands the feed, keeps only topics created within the last 48 hours, and outputs one item per topic.
• Permanent de-duplication ledger: A Data Table node upserts each topic into a “seen” ledger using a topic_id column—so no topic is processed twice.
• Notify only new posts: Connect your preferred notification node (e.g., Telegram, Gmail, or Slack) after the filter to receive only new job listings.

Technical details

• Discourse category feed (public, no login required for the category feed)
• n8n nodes: Schedule Trigger, HTTP Request, Code, Data Table (plus a notification node such as Telegram, Gmail, or Slack)
• Requirements: An n8n Data Table with a topic_id column

Setup (quick)

• Import the workflow, open Fetch Job Board Posts, and replace the COMMUNITY_URL_TO_WATCH placeholder and category path (e.g., jobs/13).
• In Record Seen Topics, select or create an n8n Data Table with topic_id.
• Add your notification node after the filter, adjust polling and the 48-hour window if needed, then activate.
