n8n FHIR Observation Triage with Gemini, Sheets & Slack

Automatically triage new FHIR Observations every 15 minutes—then escalate critical results to Slack and log everything in Google Sheets

This n8n workflow polls FHIR Observation data from mock.health, uses Google Gemini to triage each new observation, sends CRITICAL/HIGH alerts to Slack, and tracks processed recommendations in Google Sheets—all on a 15-minute schedule.

What this workflow does

• Runs on a schedule (every 15 minutes) to check for newly updated FHIR Observation records.
• Reads the last successful sync timestamp from workflow static data and polls the mock.health FHIR Observation endpoint for records updated since then.
• Parses the returned FHIR bundle, normalizes each Observation into a consistent alert payload, and stops when no valid observations are returned.
• Checks Google Sheets for existing observationId entries and filters out observations already marked as processed.
• For each unprocessed observation, sends it to Google Gemini to generate: severity, headline, clinical rationale, and a recommended action.
• Routes CRITICAL and HIGH findings to Slack as escalation messages, while preserving the original payload for downstream logging.
• Appends or updates the observation in Google Sheets, marks it as processed, and advances the stored sync cursor to the newest processed observation timestamp.
