Turn a JSON shot list into a production-ready Markdown prompt pack—complete with timing and review warnings

This n8n workflow manually validates your video shot list (JSON) and exports a downloadable Markdown production brief—including per-shot prompts, timeline start/end timecodes, and warnings for missing details or duration mismatches.

What this workflow does

  • Runs on demand via a manual trigger.
  • Collects your video brief configuration: project name, aspect ratio, target duration, shared visual style, and a JSON array of shots.
  • Validates constraints such as shot count (1–30), supported aspect ratios, and per-shot seconds limits.
  • Calculates timing by deriving each shot’s start/end timecodes from your target duration and shot seconds.
  • Builds prompts per shot and generates a full prompt pack.
  • Creates a review checklist with warnings when required details are missing or when durations don’t align.
  • Exports the result as a downloadable .md file via binary data from the final node.

Use cases

  • Automation engineers who need an n8n workflow that converts structured shot data into generator-ready prompts.
  • SaaS operators standardizing video production briefs across teams and tools by using consistent Markdown outputs.
  • Creators preparing prompts for Flow AI Video (or another generator) by generating a clean, copy/paste production checklist and prompt pack.

Technical details

  • Manual Trigger to start the workflow.
  • Uses nodes from the workflow’s template: Set, Code, Sticky Note, and supporting steps to validate JSON and compute timecodes.

Setup

Update the sample project details and provide your own valid shots JSON with at least subject, action, and seconds per shot. Ensure aspect ratio is 9:16, 16:9, or 1:1, and that targetSeconds matches your intended total duration. Then run the workflow and download the generated Markdown file.

Note: This template prepares a production brief only—it does not call a video-generation API.
