This n8n workflow connects to Lark Suite message events and automatically generates contextual replies using an OpenAI-powered n8n AI Agent—while keeping short-term conversation memory per user. Simply connect your Lark app, provide OpenAI credentials, and your bot can respond in-thread.

What this workflow does

• Receives Lark event callbacks via a POST webhook endpoint.
• Handles URL verification by detecting url_verification requests and returning the required challenge response.
• Acknowledges incoming events and extracts the sender’s Lark user ID and the message content.
• Fetches sender context from Lark by requesting a tenant access token (using your Lark App ID and App Secret) and then retrieving the sender’s user profile from the Lark Contacts API.
• Generates an AI reply by sending the incoming message plus user context (e.g., name and time) to an n8n AI Agent backed by an OpenAI chat model, using short-term conversation memory keyed by user ID.
• Sends the response back to the same user using the Lark IM messages API.
