Automatically verify OrbitPage publications—and request approval if HTTP fails

This n8n OrbitPage workflow monitors OrbitPage revisions, compares changes to the last verified release, and checks the live website after publication. If the public page fails its HTTP check, it automatically prepares a human rollback approval request before restoring an earlier verified revision.

What this workflow does

  • Monitors revisions: Run manually or use the OrbitPage trigger to poll saved revision changes every minute.
  • Reads the latest state: Retrieves workspace overview, full draft, publication status, and revision/ETag details.
  • Analyzes public-facing changes: Compares selected public fields against the last verified snapshot and flags issues such as placeholders, unsafe URL protocols, or invalid publication metadata.
  • Routes actions: Skips unchanged revisions; optionally requests approval for unpublished private drafts by email; sends newly published dashboard revisions for verification.
  • Optional approval step: Emails a one-time resume link and publishes the reviewed draft using its ETag after approval.
  • Verifies the live page: Requests the public page and checks HTTP status, response length, and maintenance-like text. Saves successful release metadata for future comparisons.
  • Handles verification failure: If HTTP verification fails, it checks whether an earlier verified revision is available. If yes, it emails a `rollback approval` link; if no, it notifies the recipient and stops.
  • Restores and rechecks: After approval, restores the selected version with an ETag concurrency check, then verifies the public page again.

Use cases

  • Ensure OrbitPage updates don’t ship broken links, placeholder content, or invalid publication metadata.
  • Require email-based human approval for private drafts before public release.
  • Automatically trigger a rollback workflow when a newly published OrbitPage revision fails an HTTP verification check.

  • Core workflow behavior: OrbitPage revision polling, public-field analysis, HTTP verification, ETag-based publishing/restoration, and email approval/rollback links via Gmail.
