Get competitor PR updates in Microsoft Teams—summarized by OpenAI
This n8n PR TIMES RSS Monitor workflow scans PR TIMES RSS feeds for your competitor company IDs every weekday morning, uses OpenAI to score relevance and generate short, actionable summaries, and posts everything as a single Adaptive Card to a Microsoft Teams channel via an incoming webhook.
What this workflow does
- Runs on a schedule every weekday morning.
- Loads competitor settings (PR TIMES company_id list), a watch topic, product description, output language, and a lookback window (days_back) from the Prepare Competitor Settings node.
- Fetches PR TIMES RSS feeds for each competitor and keeps only releases published within the configured past days.
- Deduplicates releases using the release link as the key, so previously processed updates aren’t reposted across executions.
-
Analyzes each new release with OpenAI to produce:
- a relevance level (high/medium/low)
- a category
- a short summary
- a “why it matters” line
- Filters to impact by keeping only high- and medium-relevance releases, aggregating them into one list.
- Posts one Teams message (Adaptive Card) with the relevant updates via an incoming webhook.
Use cases
- Track competitors’ announcements and quickly spot launches, partnerships, or product changes.
- Keep executives or product teams informed with curated PR summaries delivered to Teams each morning.
- Reduce manual monitoring by automating PR TIMES RSS review and relevance scoring with OpenAI.
Technical details
- OpenAI integration via an OpenAI API credential (configured in the OpenAI GPT-5 Mini node).
- Microsoft Teams integration using an incoming webhook to send an Adaptive Card.
- Workflow nodes include: set, filter, split out, aggregate, and http request (plus a sticky note for guidance).
Setup is straightforward: update competitor settings, add your OpenAI credential, and paste the Teams webhook URL into the “Post to …” step.
