Search properties from n8n and log results to Google Sheets using the Searchbug API

This n8n workflow captures property search criteria from an n8n Form, queries the Searchbug Property Search API (api_prop) for matching records, and automatically appends detailed property fields to a Google Sheets tab—so you can review and track search outcomes in one place.

What this workflow does

  • Collects input: Receives a submission from an n8n Form where users choose a search type, enter a search value, and provide a location.
  • Maps search type to Searchbug SRCH code: Converts the selected search type into Searchbug’s SRCH codes:
    • A for address
    • P for parcel ID
    • O for owner name
  • Calls Searchbug: Sends a POST request to the Searchbug Property Search API endpoint and retrieves the property record as JSON.
  • Logs results to Google Sheets: Appends returned property details (including fields such as owner, parcel, values, mailing address, and land data) as a new row in your specified spreadsheet/tab.

Use cases

  • Internal property research: Analysts submit address/parcel/owner queries via a form and receive logged results in Google Sheets immediately.
  • Operational tracking: Maintain a searchable history of property lookups with mailing and land-related fields for follow-up work.
  • SaaS workflows: Use this n8n property search automation to connect customer search requests to structured reporting in Google Sheets.

Technical details

  • n8n nodes: set, sticky note, form trigger, http request, google sheets
  • External API: Searchbug Property Search API (api_prop) using mapped SRCH codes (A/P/O)
  • Required setup:
    • Add your Searchbug CO_CODE and PASS values to the HTTP request body parameters.
    • Connect Google Sheets credentials and set your Document ID and target worksheet/tab name.
    • Create a header row in the target tab matching the property fields written by the Google Sheets append step.
