Keep your pages SEO-ready by automatically auditing H1–H3 heading structure—and reporting results to Slack.
This n8n workflow checks the heading structure of a list of URLs from Google Sheets, flags missing/duplicate/empty/orphaned H1–H3 issues, writes per-page results back to a “Heading Audit” tab, and posts a consolidated digest of issues and capture failures to Slack.
What this workflow does
- Runs weekly: scheduled every Monday at 7:00 AM.
-
Reads URLs from Google Sheets: pulls
urlandlabelfrom a “Pages” sheet, processing one page at a time. - Audits headings with Snapshot Site Analyze: calls Snapshot Site Analyze for each URL to extract page metadata and heading structure (with summary and quality flags disabled).
-
Classifies results per page as:
- OK
- Issues (e.g., missing, duplicate, empty, orphaned headings, or no subheadings)
- Failed to capture, including any capture error message
- Updates Google Sheets: appends or updates the audit row in the “Heading Audit” tab keyed by URL.
- Posts a consolidated report to Slack: lists pages with issues first (including H1/title mismatch notes) and includes any pages that could not be captured.
Use cases
- Run ongoing SEO audit checks for SaaS marketing pages and landing pages.
- Validate heading hierarchy after content migrations (and quickly spot orphaned or missing subheadings).
- Monitor technical SEO health for teams that manage updates via scheduled automation in n8n.
Technical details
- Schedule: weekly via n8n
- Nodes/stack: if, set, code, slack, sticky note, Google Sheets
- Snapshot integration: use the verified community node
n8n-nodes-snapshot-sitewith Snapshot Site API credentials - Google Sheets: OAuth credentials; “Pages” (columns:
url, label) and “Heading Audit” (expected result columns)
Tip: ensure your “Pages” URLs include the scheme (e.g., https://example.com) so Snapshot Site Analyze can capture headings reliably.
