Stay ahead of downtime with an n8n Service Health Monitor that alerts you in Discord

This n8n workflow checks the health endpoints of multiple services every five minutes and immediately posts an incident alert to your Discord webhook whenever a service returns an unhealthy response.

What this workflow does

  • Runs on a 5-minute schedule using the n8n Schedule Trigger.
  • Loads configuration inside the workflow: a list of services (each with a name and a health-check URL) plus a Discord incoming webhook URL.
  • Checks each service over HTTP/HTTPS: sends an HTTP request to the configured health endpoint.
  • Uses retries and a 10-second timeout for each health check.
  • Marks health as OK only on 2xx/3xx responses with no request error.
  • Builds and sends alerts per unhealthy service: for every service that fails, it posts a Discord POST message to your webhook.

Use cases

  • SaaS operations monitoring: detect when an API health endpoint starts returning non-2xx/3xx responses.
  • Multi-service reliability checks: monitor several internal or external services (each with its own health URL) from one workflow.
  • Incident awareness: notify your team in Discord the moment health checks fail—without manually polling dashboards.

Technical details

  • Required runtime: n8n 2.x with nodes enabled for Schedule Trigger, HTTP Request, Code, Set, and If.
  • HTTP health checks: evaluates status codes and request errors; unhealthy triggers alert creation.
  • Discord alerts: sends incident notifications to a Discord-compatible incoming webhook.
  • Setup steps: replace the Config webhook URL, add real service names and HTTP/HTTPS health-check URLs, run the workflow once, and confirm the endpoints are reachable from the n8n host.

Result: automated service health monitoring in n8n with practical Discord incident alerts—built for automation engineers and SaaS operators.
