Control Shopify order imports with a rate-limited webhook pipeline (Jitterflow + n8n)

This n8n workflow listens for Shopify orders/create webhooks and queues each order through Jitterflow so your ERP’s order-import API is called at a controlled pace. It also uses the Shopify order ID for idempotency to prevent duplicate imports when webhooks are retried.

What this workflow does

  • Receives Shopify webhooks: Each time Shopify creates a new order, the workflow accepts the orders/create webhook request.
  • Queues instead of importing immediately: The order payload is immediately handed to Jitterflow to deliver later, rather than calling your ERP directly from the webhook.
  • Prevents duplicates with idempotency: An idempotency key is set using the Shopify order ID, so repeated webhook deliveries don’t cause the same order to be imported twice.
  • Delivers at the ERP’s cadence: Jitterflow forwards queued orders to your ERP’s order-import endpoint at the configured delivery pace (matching your ERP rate limits).
  • Retries and dead-lettering: If the ERP rejects a request, Jitterflow handles retries and dead-lettering based on the endpoint configuration.

Use cases

  • Reduce Shopify→ERP load spikes by enforcing a consistent rate limit for order-import requests.
  • Make imports resilient to Shopify webhook retries with Shopify-order-ID idempotency.
  • Operate a reliable integration for SaaS operators who need predictable throughput to an ERP.

Technical details

  • n8n webhook: Receives Shopify orders/create events.
  • Jitterflow integration: Uses the verified community node n8n-nodes-jitterflow (n8n-nodes-jitterflowjitterflow as listed).
  • Jitterflow endpoint + API credential: Configure your ERP order-import endpoint cadence and authentication headers (e.g., ERP API key), then select the Jitterflow API credential in the workflow.

Setup

  • Install n8n-nodes-jitterflow in n8n (Settings → Community Nodes).
  • Create a Jitterflow endpoint targeting your ERP’s order-import API and set the delivery pace to match rate limits.
  • Create a Jitterflow API credential in n8n and set the endpoint key in the workflow.
  • Activate the workflow and add the production webhook URL in Shopify for orders/create (JSON format).
