Instant Slack alerts for every Tally form submission—complete with a threaded field-by-field summary
This n8n workflow listens for Tally webhook submissions and automatically posts a parent Slack message plus a threaded reply containing all submitted fields and a direct link to the Tally response—so your team can triage instantly.
What this workflow does
- Receives a POST webhook from Tally whenever a new form submission is created.
-
Extracts key submission details from the webhook payload, including:
- form name
- response/submission ID
- submission timestamp
- response URL
- all submitted fields (labels and values)
- Posts a new message to a selected Slack channel showing the form name, response ID, and submission time.
- Creates a threaded Slack reply listing every submitted field label/value pair and including a direct link to the Tally submission.
Use cases
- SaaS ops & support: Get immediate Slack notifications when users submit onboarding, contact, or feedback forms in Tally.
- Lead intake: Notify sales/BD in Slack with a thread that contains the full lead details and a link for fast follow-up.
- Internal requests: Route submissions from Tally to a dedicated Slack channel with complete field visibility in one place.
Technical details
- Built for an n8n automation workflow using these nodes: Webhook, Slack, Set, and Sticky Note.
- Slack posting uses two message steps: a parent message and a threaded reply with the detailed field list.
Setup (quick)
- Copy the Webhook node’s Production URL and add it in Tally under Integrations → Webhooks for your form.
- In n8n, add your Slack credential and select the destination Slack channel in both Slack message steps.
- Run a test submission from Tally, confirm the payload and Slack messages, then activate the workflow.
