Keep your Hospitable guests informed—automatically—when rain or strong winds are coming.

This n8n Weather Alerts Workflow checks WeatherAPI.com every day for the next 24 hours at your Hospitable property location, and proactively messages the most relevant guest through the Hospitable Public API when severe conditions are expected—while preventing repeat sends with an n8n Data Table.

What this workflow does

  • Runs daily at 17:00 using a schedule trigger.
  • Fetches a 2-day hourly forecast from WeatherAPI.com, then evaluates whether rain and/or strong wind thresholds are met within the next 24 hours.
  • If severe weather is expected, it queries the Hospitable Public API for upcoming and in-progress reservations and selects the single eligible in-house or arriving-today guest (or flags the situation as ambiguous/unsendable).
  • Uses an n8n Data Table to enforce a 48-hour no-repeat rule, then generates a guest-ready message with a natural time phrase (e.g., “tonight” or “tomorrow morning”).
  • In LIVE mode, it claims a log row, posts to the reservation conversation via the Hospitable API, and records whether the send was confirmed, failed, or unknown.
  • Emails the host via SMTP in DRY_RUN mode and whenever the workflow cannot send safely (e.g., no conversation available, overlapping stays, table claim failure, or an unconfirmed send).

Use cases

  • Send timely guidance before a rainfront impacts check-in or daily comfort.
  • Notify guests about strong wind forecasts that may affect outdoor plans.
  • Reduce support tickets by communicating weather expectations automatically with controlled repeat logic.
  • Escalate to the host via email when messaging cannot be completed reliably.

Technical details

  • WeatherAPI.com: HTTP Query Auth using the key parameter.
  • Hospitable: HTTP Bearer token via the Hospitable Public API.
  • SMTP: host notification emails when LIVE sending isn’t safe or confirmed.
  • Workflow nodes/logic: if, code, data table, http request, email send, and a sticky note.

Setup

Create credentials for WeatherAPI.com, Hospitable, and SMTP, then deploy the workflow. In LIVE mode it sends; in DRY_RUN it emails the host for review.
