Generate multilingual weather news automatically—using Open-Meteo forecasts, Claude verification, and AI header images
This n8n Weather News Workflow pulls 3-day city forecasts from Open-Meteo, uses Anthropic Claude to create and verify structured meteorological summaries and final HTML articles, generates a matching header image with OpenAI (with a fallback), and uploads CMS-ready JSON + images to S3-compatible storage—with Slack alerts and run monitoring.
What this workflow does
- Runs weekly or on demand (scheduled Monday 06:00) to start an article-generation batch.
- Builds a per-country workload (cities, language, and locale) and loops through each selected country.
- Fetches Open-Meteo forecasts for each city for the next 3 days, then aggregates them into a compact macro-area-based dataset.
- Writes and verifies using Anthropic Claude: produces a meteorological summary and can optionally cross-check against a secondary source URL. If unavailable, it posts a Slack warning.
- Computes deterministic “ground truth” per macro-area (including windiest/wettest/hottest records) and guides Claude to produce a short HTML article and title.
- QA with automated correction: Claude reviews the article against the ground truth/verification report, rewrites and re-checks once on failures, then applies deterministic guardrails to flag warning-related wording or banned terms.
- Creates a calibrated header image with Claude, generates the final header image via OpenAI Images API (or uses a predefined fallback), and uploads both the image and a CMS-agnostic JSON payload to S3.
- Logs a run summary for monitoring and troubleshooting.
Use cases
- SaaS operators publishing weekly multilingual weather news without manual writing.
- Automation engineers building an n8n content pipeline with factual QA, deterministic guardrails, and Slack notifications.
- Teams needing Open-Meteo forecast-to-article automation with S3-based CMS ingestion.
Technical details
- n8n nodes/workflow components: if, s3, set, code, slack, data table.
- External services: Open-Meteo (forecast data), Anthropic Claude (analysis/verification/article + image scene calibration), OpenAI Images API (header image), S3-compatible storage (uploads).
