Get Instant “Office Open/Closed” Answers via an n8n Webhook
This n8n Webhook workflow tells you whether your office is currently open or closed—using a weekly schedule, optional full-day closed dates, overnight hours, and your office’s IANA time zone. Send an authenticated POST request and receive a clear JSON response.
What this workflow does
- Receives an authenticated POST request using an n8n Webhook (Webhook Header Auth credential).
-
Loads office configuration, including:
- Your IANA time zone
- Weekly opening intervals by weekday
- An optional list of closed dates (YYYY-MM-DD)
- Calculates local date/time in the configured time zone.
-
Determines open status by checking:
- Today’s scheduled intervals
- Any overnight interval from the previous day
- Any full-day closure date
- Returns JSON including open/closed status, local timestamp fields, today’s hours, and closure indicators.
Use cases
- Power an automated “Office Status” check for your customer support app or website widget.
- Route calls/chats differently when the office is open vs. closed, including overnight coverage.
- Disable or label holiday responses using YYYY-MM-DD closed dates—without changing code.
Technical details
- Webhook node for the endpoint (authenticated via Webhook Header Auth credential).
- Code node to calculate local time, apply weekly intervals, handle overnight logic, and evaluate closed dates.
- Sticky Note for workflow guidance.
- Respond to Webhook node to return the JSON result.
Setup note: Replace YOUR_TIME_ZONE with your IANA time zone, configure weekly hours, add closed dates, then test scenarios (open/closed/overnight/closure) before activation.
