Weekly student risk check—powered by Google Sheets, GPT-4o, and Slack/Telegram
This n8n workflow automatically reviews weekly student performance in Google Sheets, calculates a risk index and trend, generates personalized encouragement for HIGH-risk students using OpenAI (GPT-4o mini), and delivers a teacher digest to Slack and Telegram, while logging snapshots back into Sheets for history.
What this workflow does
- Runs weekly on a schedule trigger.
- Reads student records from the Google Sheets worksheet named “Student Data”.
- Computes metrics per student: attendance, assignment completion, average test score, a risk index, a risk level (HIGH/MEDIUM/LOW), and a week-to-week score trend.
- Generates nudges for HIGH-risk students using OpenAI (GPT-4o mini). The workflow produces a short, encouraging WhatsApp-style message and emails it via Gmail.
- Creates a weekly digest for HIGH and MEDIUM risk students and posts it to both a Slack channel and a Telegram chat.
- Logs historical tracking by appending a dated snapshot of each student’s metrics and risk label to “Log Trend” in Google Sheets.
- Handles failures: if the workflow fails, an error trigger posts a basic alert message to Slack.
Use cases
- Schools or tutoring teams monitoring student performance without manual weekly reporting.
- SaaS operators building internal education analytics and automated student support.
- Automation engineers deploying a reliable Google Sheets → risk scoring → messaging pipeline in n8n.
