Create, Update & Fetch Google Cloud Firestore Documents with n8n

This n8n workflow helps you create, update, and get a document in Google Cloud Firestore—by setting the exact fields you want and running the Firestore operation with precision.

What this workflow does

Built for straightforward Firestore document management, the workflow is designed around a clear sequence:

  • Start with a Manual Trigger to run the workflow on demand.
  • Use a Set node to define the document data you want to write. If your values come from another part of your automation, add the data source node before the Set node and map the values there.
  • Perform the required Google Cloud Firestore action to either create, update, or get the document.
  • Ensure the Columns/ attributes fields inside the Google Cloud Firestore node are updated to match the structure you want to insert and maintain.

Use cases

  • SaaS operations: Write or refresh Firestore documents when an admin action occurs.
  • Automation engineering: Validate document reads (“get”) during development, then switch to create/update logic.
  • App data sync: Use a preceding node to gather values from your system, then store them in Firestore with the correct attributes.

Technical details

  • Workflow type: n8n automation workflow
  • Nodes used: Manual Trigger, Set, Google Firebase Cloud Firestore
  • Core concept: Map values in the Set node and align Columns/ attributes in the Firestore node for accurate document writes and updates.
