Automatically generate EU AI Act Article 50 disclosures for new Google Drive AI assets—and route for human sign-off
This n8n workflow watches a Google Drive review folder for newly created AI-generated assets, fingerprints each file with a SHA-256 hash, generates an EU AI Act Article 50 disclosure manifest (including schema.org JSON-LD), logs everything to Google Sheets, and sends Gmail emails for reviewer sign-off when required.
What this workflow does
- Triggers on new files in a specific Google Drive review folder.
- Reads disclosure settings from a Google Sheets Settings tab, then downloads the asset from Google Drive.
- Calculates a SHA-256 hash of the file contents for traceability.
- Classifies the asset by MIME type/extension and determines which EU AI Act Article 50 disclosure duties apply, including whether human sign-off is required.
- Builds a JSON disclosure manifest (with a visible label and schema.org JSON-LD) and saves it back to the review folder beside the asset.
- Updates Google Sheets in a Register tab with file details, hash, duties, manifest file ID, reviewer, and current status.
- Routes for approval: if sign-off is required, sends the reviewer an email via Gmail with what to confirm and instructions to mark the row as signed off in the register; otherwise moves the file directly to an approved Google Drive folder.
- Runs hourly to detect newly signed-off items, move them to the approved folder, and update the register with moved/published timestamps.
Use cases
- EU AI Act Article 50 documentation workflows for SaaS operators managing AI output artifacts in Google Drive.
- Automation engineers who need audit-friendly logging (hashes, duties, manifest IDs) and controlled human review.
- Teams producing multiple asset types (based on MIME/extension) that require different disclosure duties and approval paths.
Technical details
- n8n nodes/stack: Google Drive, Google Sheets, Gmail, crypto (SHA-256), if, code, plus a sticky note.
- Generates and stores a JSON disclosure manifest alongside the asset, then synchronizes status through the Sheets Register tab.
- Requires setup of Google Drive review/approved folder IDs and use of the Sheets Settings/Register tabs.
