Track Google AI Overview visibility automatically—every 24 hours
This n8n workflow monitors your target Google search page’s AI Overview by calling Pangolinfo’s AI Overview SERP API on a 24-hour schedule. It extracts the current AI Overview, cited sources, organic results, and optionally a screenshot—then saves a consistent, normalized JSON record you can store or compare over time.
What this workflow does
- Runs daily using a schedule trigger (every 24 hours).
- Configures the monitoring target by setting the Google search URL and whether to request a SERP screenshot in Configure Monitoring.
- Queries Pangolinfo to fetch the Google AI Overview response, its citations, and organic results (and an optional screenshot).
- Normalizes the results into a consistent JSON payload including a timestamp, task ID, AI Overview data, organic results, and screenshot URL/data.
Use cases
- Brand-visibility monitoring: detect when your brand’s AI Overview mentions or cited sources change.
- SEO/AIO optimization: compare AI Overview content trends over time for a specific query.
- Competitor tracking: run the workflow for different Google search URLs and compare normalized visibility records.
- Reporting & alerts: send normalized records to Sheets/databases, trigger dashboards, or feed an AI comparison step.
Technical details
- Requires self-hosted n8n with community nodes enabled and the community node n8n-nodes-pangolinfo installed.
- Uses a user-owned Pangolinfo API key configured in the Pangolinfo node.
- Workflow nodes include Schedule Trigger, Set, Code, and supporting nodes (e.g., Sticky Note), plus n8n-nodes-pangolinfo to fetch the SERP payload.
Simple setup: configure the Google search URL and screenshot preference, test once to confirm the normalized output, then enable the 24-hour monitoring schedule.
