Weekly Google Sheets conflict checks—automated risk scoring and Slack alerts with Groq
This n8n workflow automatically compares employee and supplier records in Google Sheets every week, scores potential conflict-of-interest matches, and uses Groq to generate a neutral compliance explanation. High-risk results are pushed to Slack, and medium/high-risk cases are logged for audit in a Google Sheets ConflictCases tab.
What this workflow does
- Runs weekly on a schedule trigger to keep compliance checks current.
- Reads data from two Google Sheets tabs: one for Employees and one for Suppliers.
- Compares each employee against each supplier, scoring potential conflicts using signals such as names, emails, phones, addresses, city/last-name indicators, and transaction activity.
- Generates AI explanations with Groq for every case above the scoring threshold—producing a short, neutral risk explanation and recommended next steps.
- Flags high risk (risk score 70+) and posts a formatted Slack alert.
- Audits results in Google Sheets by appending high-risk and medium-risk cases (including score, reasons, and the AI summary) to the ConflictCases tab.
Use cases
- Compliance teams needing ongoing conflict-of-interest monitoring across internal employees and external suppliers.
- Automation engineers deploying a repeatable Google Sheets + Slack workflow for periodic governance checks.
- SaaS operators wanting an audit-friendly log of match reasons and AI-generated summaries.
Technical details
- n8n nodes/logic: if, set, code, merge, slack, sticky note
- Integrations: Google Sheets (Employees, Suppliers, and ConflictCases tabs) and Groq (Groq chat model)
- Setup requirements: ensure your sheet headers match the workflow’s expected fields (e.g., employee/supplier name/email/phone/address and supplier owner/contact/spend fields), configure Google Sheets credentials, update spreadsheet ID/tab selections if needed, and add a Groq API credential.
