Detect competitor moves instantly—by monitoring Gmail and Webhooks
This n8n workflow watches for new Gmail messages and incoming webhook POSTs, uses Groq (Llama 3.3) to extract competitor intelligence, then routes confirmed signals to Salesforce, Slack, and Google Sheets for real-time alerting and logging.
What this workflow does
- Triggers when a new Gmail email arrives or when an external system sends a POST request to the workflow’s webhook endpoint.
- Normalizes and deduplicates incoming data into a consistent event format and removes duplicate webhook events using a unique ID.
- Extracts structured intelligence by sending cleaned text to Groq (Llama 3.3) to produce a structured JSON report (competitors, deal stage, sentiment, risk level, urgency, insights, recommended actions).
- Validates AI output; logs malformed or empty results to Google Sheets.
- Skips non-relevant events: if no competitor names are detected, the workflow logs the event and moves on.
- Enriches results with source context and a calculated risk score, then splits the competitor list into one record per competitor.
- Creates a Salesforce Opportunity by mapping each competitor to a Salesforce stage and alert priority.
- Alerts your team by posting a formatted message to Slack and appending full intelligence records to Google Sheets (with Slack error alerts if downstream steps fail).
Use cases
- Sales and RevOps teams want competitor alerting from sales emails and external systems.
- SaaS operators need AI-assisted competitive intelligence tracked in Google Sheets and surfaced in Salesforce.
- Automation engineers require reliable routing with deduplication, validation, and Slack-based error visibility.
