Reconcile daily till counts automatically—then instantly flag what doesn’t add up
This n8n workflow reconciles end-of-day till entries by comparing counted cash against expected sales, detects issues like duplicates, missing fields, and gaps in the date sequence, and delivers a single owner-facing digest summarizing clean days and exceptions.
What this workflow does
- Runs on demand or nightly: start it via “Test workflow” or let it run on a 21:30 schedule.
- Simulates end-of-day submissions with a batch of sample till entries (date, expected sales, counted cash) to mirror real intake.
- Validates required fields and deduplicates entries by date.
- Checks reconciliation tolerance by comparing counted cash vs expected sales using configurable tolerance settings (absolute tolerance, percent tolerance, and currency).
- Creates reason-coded owner alerts for exceptions including: over-tolerance, duplicates, missing fields, or missing days.
- Outputs exactly one digest merging clean reconciliations and alerts—so owners get a single, clear summary of how many days matched and what needs attention.
Use cases
- Small retail operators reconciling nightly cash totals against expected sales with consistent tolerance rules.
- SaaS operators or automation engineers building a reliable till auditing pipeline with exception reporting.
- Teams who want automated detection of missing submission days to prevent silent reporting gaps.
