n8n Workflow: Reddit Story Video Automation (OpenRouter + ElevenLabs + Zvid)

Turn Reddit (or your own story) into a captioned vertical video—automatically

This n8n workflow converts story text into a ready-to-render vertical video using OpenRouter for narration + shot planning, ElevenLabs for per-word-timestamp voiceover, and Zvid for stock visuals, animated captions, and rendering. By default it runs with manual story input, or you can enable approved Reddit fetching via OAuth.

What this workflow does

Designed for n8n automation engineers and SaaS operators, the workflow follows this pipeline:

• Runs daily at 9am (or on demand via a manual trigger) and loads your workflow configuration, including whether to use manual text or Reddit.
• Selects a story: validates your manual story text, or—if Reddit mode is enabled—uses Reddit OAuth to fetch the day’s top posts from a configured subreddit and picks an unused story within character limits.
• Rewrites + structures the narration with OpenRouter, generating scene beats and stock-footage search keywords, then normalizes and splits the script into shots.
• Builds the video assets by searching Zvid’s stock library for matching clips/images per shot and choosing background music from Zvid’s audio library within duration and file-size limits.
• Generates voiceover with timing using ElevenLabs, producing an MP3 with per-word timestamps; uploads to Zvid and creates a Zvid render project with branded scenes and word-timed animated captions.
• Validates and renders: checks the Zvid project for schema and credit requirements, then performs a draft preview (dry run) or submits a render job, polling Zvid until completion (or timeout).
• Outputs the final video URL and can optionally download the rendered file for review inside n8n.
