Know which Shopify variants will run out—before they do
This free n8n workflow automatically calculates LOW / OUT inventory alerts for your Shopify products using the last 30 days of unit sales, then exports actionable results to Google Sheets (or a CSV file). Optional demo mode uses built-in mock data—no LLM required.
What this workflow does
- Run manually and load configuration such as data source mode (mock or Shopify), lookback windows, and output destination.
- In mock mode, generates sample product variants with inventory and 7/30-day sales (for testing the logic).
- In live Shopify mode, queries the Shopify Admin GraphQL API for products/variants and recent orders.
- Normalizes Shopify product + order data into a per-variant dataset including:
- inventory quantity
- inventory tracking status
- units sold over the last 7 and 30 days
- Calculates each variant’s average daily sales, reorder point, suggested order quantity, days of cover, and status: OK, LOW, OUT, NO_SALES, or NOT_TRACKED.
- Writes results to a Google Sheets “Alerts” tab (append or update by SKU) or to a CSV output file.
- Creates a bilingual (EN/ZH) Summary with status counts and top reorder candidates, outputting to a “Summary” tab or a summary CSV.
Use cases
- Weekly (manual) review of low stock alerts for Shopify variants with export-ready reporting.
- Testing reorder logic in demo mode before connecting Shopify credentials.
- Feeding inventory insights to finance/ops via Google Sheets or CSV for downstream automation.
Technical details
- Tech stack / nodes: if, code, sticky note, http request, google sheets, convert to file
- Shopify authentication: uses an HTTP Header Auth credential with X-Shopify-Access-Token (scopes like read_products, read_inventory, read_orders).
