Catch supplier late-delivery risk early with automated Sheets + Slack alerts
The Supplier Late-Delivery Risk Alerts (Sheets + Slack) n8n workflow scans your Google Sheets purchase orders and shipment signals every 6 hours, scores each open order for lateness risk, logs flagged items to a Risk Register, and sends a clear Slack alert—so you can escalate before delays impact customers.
What this workflow does
- Runs on a schedule every 6 hours using a schedule trigger.
- Reads data from Google Sheets tabs: Purchase Orders, Supplier History, Customer Commitments, and Carrier Tracking.
- Joins datasets and calculates risk indicators, including delay indicators, supplier reliability metrics, impact scores, and an overall risk level per open purchase order.
- Filters to at-risk orders (and exits the alert path when no risks are found).
- Appends at-risk orders to the Risk Register sheet, including a prewritten supplier escalation email draft.
- Sends a Slack alert with a summary message to your configured channel.
- Records every run in a Run Log Google Sheets tab, including counts checked, at-risk items, and high/critical items.
Use cases
- Proactively identify suppliers likely to miss delivery commitments using purchase order, supplier history, and carrier tracking.
- Centralize late-delivery triage by automatically maintaining a Risk Register and providing escalation email drafts.
- Keep operations teams aligned with real-time Slack notifications on newly flagged high/critical orders.
Technical details
- Google Sheets integration via a Service Account (share the spreadsheet with the service account email and provide the spreadsheet ID in the config).
- Slack integration to post alerts to a configured channel.
- Workflow logic uses nodes such as if, set, code, no op, slack, and sticky note.
