Turn n8n Form uploads into shareable links—plus QR codes and a Gmail email
This n8n workflow automatically takes a file submitted via an n8n Form, uploads it to UploadToURL to generate a public link, creates a PNG QR code for that link, and emails both the QR code and the direct URL to the submitter using Gmail.
What this workflow does
- Receives a submission from an n8n Form containing a project name, the user’s email address, and an uploaded document or image.
- Uploads the file to UploadToURL to create a publicly accessible URL for the uploaded content.
- Generates a QR code (PNG) that encodes the public file URL.
- Sends an HTML email via Gmail to the provided email address, attaching the QR code and including the direct file link in the message body.
Use cases
- Collect and share deliverables: users upload images/docs to your n8n Form and receive an instant QR + link for viewing or downloading.
- Event handoffs: attendees upload their assets and get a scannable QR code to access the file.
- SaaS support workflows: customers submit files (screenshots, documents) and automatically receive a shareable link for verification or collaboration.
Technical details
- n8n Form Trigger to capture project name, email, and the uploaded file.
- n8n-nodes-uploadtourlupload to url to upload and return a public URL (configured in the workflow with retention/expiry behavior currently set to never expire).
- cyberacen8n-nodes-qrqr toolkit to generate a PNG QR code from the public link.
- Gmail (OAuth2 credential) to send an HTML email with the QR code attached.
- Sticky Note nodes for in-workflow guidance/documentation.
Setup requirements
- Connect an UploadToURL credential and confirm file retention/expiry behavior.
- Connect a Gmail OAuth2 credential for the sender account used to email QR codes.
- Publish the n8n Form and share its URL so users can upload files and enter their email.
