n8n Workflow: Viral Video Clips w/ Reap + OpenAI Captions

Turn a single video into viral-ready Shorts—with Reap + OpenAI captions (and optional auto-publishing)

This n8n workflow takes your source video, generates portrait short-form clips using Reap, creates platform-specific captions/metadata with OpenAI, and (optionally) publishes the best-performing clip to Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and TikTok via Zernio.

What this workflow does

• Validates your inputs when you click Execute workflow, checking the source video URL and clip-generation settings.
• Generates clips with Reap: sends the source video to Reap for portrait clip creation, polls until processing completes, and retrieves the generated clips.
• Selects the strongest candidate by choosing the clip with the highest Reap virality score.
• Creates platform-ready copy with OpenAI by generating Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts titles/descriptions/captions, then validates the text against character/hashtag rules.
• Routes publishing based on toggles, including a dry-run vs live mode check.
• Publishes to Instagram (optional) using the Instagram Graph API: creates an Instagram Reel container, waits for processing status, then publishes.
• Publishes to YouTube (optional): downloads the selected clip and uploads it as a Short with the generated title and description.
• Publishes to TikTok (optional): uploads via Zernio and retries automatically on temporary “at capacity” errors.
