Pre-assess potential OpenAI + Gmail sanctions hits—before a human review
The OpenAI + Gmail Sanctions Pre-Assessment Workflow (n8n) receives counterparty details through a header-authenticated webhook, screens them against OFAC SDN/alias and UN consolidated sanctions lists, uses an OpenAI-powered agent to pre-assess likely matches, and routes outcomes to human review via Gmail—with optional four-eyes approval.
What this workflow does
- Receives and validates requests: Accepts a POST payload on a header-authenticated webhook, validates the input, and generates a stable match key for the counterparty.
- Avoids re-screening: Checks prior results in an n8n Data Table and returns an existing open case or a recent clear result instead of re-running the full workflow.
- Creates and tracks a case: Opens a new case in the Data Table, assigns a case ID, downloads OFAC SDN, OFAC alias, and UN consolidated lists, and performs fuzzy name matching to identify candidate hits.
- Pre-assesses with OpenAI: If candidates are found, sends the subject and candidates to an OpenAI agent to produce a structured assessment. The agent can also check prior decisions stored in the Data Table and optionally query the GLEIF LEI register for entity context.
- Routes to human decision via Gmail: Emails the case summary to a reviewer using Gmail, then waits for a decision in an n8n form to mark false positive, escalate, or ask up to two follow-up questions to the agent.
- Optional four-eyes approval: If required, requests a second approver’s confirmation via Gmail approval, escalates on rejection/timeouts, and enforces reviewer/approver separation.
- Logs final outcome: Writes the final decision back to the n8n Data Table.
Use cases
- Sanctions screening triage for SaaS onboarding: reduce manual effort by pre-assessing likely OFAC/UN matches.
- Counterparty due diligence for finance/compliance teams using n8n automation.
- Workflow-enabled governance with four-eyes review for higher-risk cases.
