Turn research requests into a cited executive brief—automatically sent by Gmail
This Perplexity + Claude Gmail Research Brief n8n workflow collects a topic from an n8n Form, runs live web research with Perplexity (sonar-pro), synthesizes it with Claude Sonnet (Anthropic), then emails a polished HTML executive brief to the requester and logs everything to an n8n Data Table.
What this workflow does
- Receives a research request via an n8n Form Trigger, capturing the requester’s email, topic, and optional specific questions.
- Normalizes inputs into consistent email/topic/focus values for reliable downstream processing.
- Performs recent web research using Perplexity (sonar-pro), limited to the last month, returning findings plus citation URLs.
- Synthesizes an HTML brief with Claude Sonnet, producing a structured report (summary, key findings, opportunities/risks, and sources).
-
Logs the result—topic, questions, the HTML brief, sources, and a timestamp—into an n8n Data Table (default:
research_brief_log). - Sends the brief via Gmail using a configured Gmail OAuth2 connection.
Use cases
- SaaS operators generate weekly research memos for product or market decisions.
- Automation engineers build an inbound “research as a service” flow for internal teams.
- Founders submit a topic and get a cited executive update suitable for sharing with stakeholders.
Technical details
- Nodes / integrations: set, form trigger, Perplexity, Claude (Anthropic), Gmail, data table, sticky note.
- Required access: Perplexity API key (sonar models), Anthropic API key (Claude), Gmail OAuth2 for sending email.
- Data persistence: store outputs in an n8n Data Table with columns for topic, focus/questions, brief (HTML), sources, and logged_at.
Share the n8n form URL, enable the workflow, and start delivering Perplexity-cited executive research briefs through Gmail—with full traceability in your Data Table.
