Turn customer signals into automated churn-risk alerts (every 6 hours)
This Postgres + Mixpanel churn risk scoring n8n workflow merges product usage, NPS responses, Mixpanel engagement, and Zendesk ticket signals—then calculates a churn risk level and triggers Customer Success interventions automatically through Gmail, Calendly, ClickUp, Slack, and a Postgres intervention log.
What this workflow does
- Runs on a schedule every 6 hours using an n8n schedule trigger.
- Pulls data from Postgres for recent product usage and last-login information, plus recent NPS responses.
- Fetches engagement from Mixpanel (via Mixpanel API) to incorporate customer interaction signals.
- Retrieves recent tickets from Zendesk to detect support-related churn risk indicators.
- Merges all sources into a single per-customer record keyed by customer_id.
- Calculates a composite churn score and categorizes it as low / medium / high using factors including login recency, feature usage change, seat utilization, NPS score, and ticket signals.
- Skips low-risk customers under your churn-risk threshold, and routes at-risk customers into intervention steps.
-
Sends a personalized check-in email via Gmail for churn-risk customers. For high-risk customers, it also:
- Creates a Calendly scheduled event
- Opens a follow-up task in ClickUp
- Posts an escalation message to a Slack channel
- Logs intervention details back to Postgres in a churn intervention log table.
Use cases
- Detect churn risk when customers stop logging in or show negative engagement trends in Mixpanel.
- Spot customers with poor NPS scores and rising Zendesk ticket activity—then trigger CS outreach.
- Give Customer Success teams consistent, automated follow-ups with Gmail + Calendly + ClickUp, and real-time Slack escalation.
Technical details
- Nodes/blocks: if, code, merge, gmail, slack, click up, plus integrations for Postgres, Mixpanel, and Zendesk.
- Setup: add Postgres credentials and update SQL query/table/column names for usage snapshots, NPS responses, and the churn_intervention_log insert; add Mixpanel API credentials and set YOUR_MIXPANEL_PROJECT_ID; add Zendesk credentials.
