This n8n automation watches your procurement events in Google Sheets, detects missing lifecycle steps, and uses OpenAI to generate a structured recovery recommendation—then logs results back to Sheets and notifies the requester via Gmail.

What this workflow does

• Triggers every minute when a new or updated row appears in the “Procurement Events” tab.
• Normalizes key fields (IDs, event type/status, timestamps, amount, currency, and email addresses) to keep your procurement workflow data consistent.
• Validates required inputs and stops early by writing an error result back to Google Sheets if required fields are missing.
• Loads workflow context by checking the current procurement’s state in “Workflow State” and retrieving required steps from “Procurement Steps”.
• Compares completed steps (including the current event) against required lifecycle steps to identify workflow gaps.
• If a gap is found, it:
  • Logs the gap to the “Gap Log” sheet.
  • Sends the gap context to OpenAI to produce a structured recovery recommendation.
  • Validates the OpenAI response and routes it to either a recovery task or manual review, writing outcomes to “Workflow Results”.
  • Sends a Gmail notification to the requester with the missing step and the recommended action.
