Route urgent support tickets automatically—triage with RapidAPI and escalate in n8n
This n8n workflow receives new support tickets via a webhook, sends the ticket text to RapidAPI’s Support Ticket Triage & Classifier, and automatically routes high/critical cases to an escalation path (Slack, PagerDuty, or Microsoft Teams) while sending everything else to a standard helpdesk update (e.g., Zendesk/Freshdesk/Jira).
What this workflow does
- Receives tickets via webhook: Accepts a POST request containing a JSON payload with the ticket text.
-
Normalizes the input: Converts the incoming payload into a single
tickettext field regardless of the original field name. - Calls RapidAPI for structured triage: Sends the ticket text to the Support Ticket Triage & Classifier endpoint to extract priority, category, sentiment, SLA breach risk, suggested team, tags, and summaries.
-
Prioritizes intelligently: Checks whether
priorityishighorcritical. - Escalates urgent issues: For high/critical tickets, builds an alert message including summary, suggested team, SLA risk, and urgency signals, then routes it to Slack, PagerDuty, or Microsoft Teams.
- Updates standard tickets: For all other tickets, constructs a structured update (priority, category, tags, team, summary) for a helpdesk tool such as Zendesk, Freshdesk, or Jira.
Use cases
- Prevent SLA breaches by escalating tickets flagged with elevated SLA risk.
- Automatically tag and classify inbound requests to speed up helpdesk routing.
- Send consistent, structured updates to Zendesk/Freshdesk/Jira for lower-priority issues.
- Keep support operations focused by sending only urgent items to Slack/PagerDuty/Teams.
Technical details
- RapidAPI integration: Uses an n8n HTTP Request with X-RapidAPI-Key header auth.
- Core n8n nodes: Webhook, if, set, no op, HTTP Request, and Sticky Note.
-
Routing logic: Conditional branching based on RapidAPI response
priority.
Designed for n8n users, automation engineers, and SaaS operators who want reliable support ticket triage and webhook routing with RapidAPI.
